Dan Brown’s novels are packed with fascinating historical tidbits which he ingeniously twists into plots that are so intricate and complex that there is a constant need to inform the reader with exposition, often leaving little room for character development. There is a bit of this stilted quality to ANGELS AND DEMONS, the second of Brown’s novels to be brought to the big screen by the tandem of Ron Howard and Tom Hanks, but more than enough intense action to keep the eyes of the audience as busy as their minds. The details of the plot are as diabolical as any in Hollywood history: after the pope’s death, a nefarious organization stashes an antimatter bomb somewhere in the Vatican, threatening to annihilate the conclave of cardinals who are meeting to elect the papal successor. To pass the time until the bomb will detonate, the enemy begins to torture and kill a few of the individual cardinals, but there is a pattern to the grotesque executions, involving hidden sculptural symbols and secret architectural clues. Unfortunately for the church, the man most capable of deciphering the code is the American "symbologist" Robert Langdon (Hanks), who happens to be an affirmed atheist. The script is filled with amazing details about the centuries-old conflict between the church and the Illuminati (whose members included Galileo, Michelangelo, and Bernini), which Hanks uncovers as he breathlessly races between various landmarks in Rome, always a step behind the sinister assassin. The secondary cast consists almost entirely of European actors, including Ewan McGregor, Stellan Skarsgaard, and Armin Mueller-Stahl, who betray so little emotion that it is impossible to tell who is a part of the conspiracy until long after the explosive climax.

    Ron Howard & Tom Hanks, it doesn't get any better than this!

    Awesome characters. Such a surprise to find out who is bad and who is good. Ron's use of international settings and actors is wonderful. Hanks' development of the Robert Langdon character is a testament to his tremendous acting skills. Angels & Demons, along with The DaVinci Code are a couple of the greatest thrillers ever made! Dan Brown wrote two wonderful books and Ron and Tom made the most of them for film audiences.

    Very Surprising

    This is a really good movie, I mean come on, it's Tom Hanks! It kinda reminds you of National Treasure (except a lot more graphic and violent). When I first watched it, I tried to pick out who I thought was guilty, not guilty, and things like that, but I was wrong on everyone I chose. The ending is so shocking (I am not going to tell you how it ends) that I had to go back and watch the ending again. I like a good surprise every once in a while and this movie certainly delivered one. I would definitly recommend that you watch this movie.     sequel that matched its predesessor

    the movie was action packed and seemed to flow fast for a movie that was over two hours.the beginning shows a lab creating antimatter artificially.amtimatter once touched with mass is suppossed to create life the same way the earth was created.this antimatter gets stolen,but who noone knows.during the same time rome is looking for a new pope,because the previous pope has died.four of the canidates(cardinals) are kidnapped the same time the antimatter is stolen.then there is a tip saying that one cardinal we be killed every hour and the antimatter will be used.the police in rome bring in robert langdon to help solve them with their problem and trnslate symbols.will there be enough time to save the cardinals and all of rome.watch and see!
