Laminate Wood Not Solid Wood
The mandolin I bought had several buzzes even when I raised the bridge . Which also made the action to gigh to play . Also these mandolins are made out of laminate wood they are by no means solid wood and is not worth the 199.00. I highly doubt Gold Tone would sell these tinker toys for 499.00. Guitar Center sells them for 269.00 If your a beginner pass this one by. Very disappointed .

Needed a Good Setup
This mandolin is at the higher end of cheap Chinese instruments. So not pro level, but pretty good. BUT, mine badly need a setup out of the box. Fortunately I have a place around the corner from the GoldTone factory in Titusville, FL and the guys fixed it up for me while I watched. It needed nut and bridge work, but when they were done it really played well. Almost as good as their top of the line solid wood model.This mandolin is at the higher end of cheap Chinese instruments.
