Rampage more like a nice walk
I bought the Redcat Rampage with the idea of reselling it. So I looked for a bargain. The Rampage is big, brightly colored, beefy tires, and overall made with strong materials and components. I was impressed with the thick steel chassis, dual steering servos and 32cc engine. It has plenty of speed for the average R/C enthusiast, but isn’t a speed demon. At 33 lbs it’s heavy to jump and if you do, you risk some damage. If you stay on pavement or packed dirt, it operates well. I did resell mine and one item to note, the new owner has yet to be able to start the truck. I also noticed a tendency for the gas tank to vacuum lock after cooling down. Removing the gas cap remedy’s the problem, but it is note worthy. Overall a good 1/5 size truck, controllable, not blazing fast, and a bit ... Update: New Owner did get the truck running. He had to take it to a shop, which said the carb needed adjustment. I live at 6000' altitude, and the new owner is about 300' altitude. So clearly altitude makes a difference on how well the engine runs.

Not what you expect for $800.00........
Not a bad truck and it's fun to drive, but only after you fix/repair it straight out of the box! For $800.00 you'd be better off getting a Losi 5th scale. Definitely not worth the money but it is a fair truck. Screws WILL fall right out while you drive if you don't Threadlock them immediately before driving! DON'T get the Redcat brand tuned pipe because it's a waste of money. Mine literally vibrated right off in half after just 15 mins of driving. The front CVD broke the 3rd drive so now I have a 3 wheel drive monster truck until I order a new one..... Overall not too happy spending over $800.00 for a "HOBBY GRADE" monster truck that can't be driven straight out the box without doing time consuming repairs.... If you're thinking about getting this truck get a Losi or something of its ... Not a bad truck and it's fun to drive, but only after you fix/repair it straight out of the box! One of my favorite 5th scale RC trucks.
Takes a few aluminum upgrades to get a few things to stop blowing apart like the differential cases. These are things you can upgrade over time dont need to do it on day one. For the money its the best 4 wheel drive truck you can get in 5th scale. First thing id order is a set of dgi will adapters to use 24mm hex wheels and some x-maxx wheels. They have to be modded to go on but its not to hard and well worth it just need a cheap dermal tool to modify them the stock mt wheels are really hard on the truckTakes a few aluminum upgrades to get a few things to stop blowing apart like the differential cases. I've heard quite a bit of negative about Redcat products. Primarily 1/10 scale vehicles. I've gotten into 1/5 scale last year with a Baja 5B buggy. After running Gas I'll rarely go back to nitro. It's a completely different world. I'm hooked. So, as I began to search for a 4WD Monster Truck in 1/5 scale, I ran across Rampage trucks. I first looked at the XT model, but, it had a lot of plastic parts and not much in the way of stronger aluminum. I was intrigued by the prices though. So, I began to research Redcat's offerings. I decided that the XT, while having a great price, just didn't have the features that I was hoping for. Then I discovered the MT. This was a whole different animal, so, I bought one. Upon receiving the machine, I was impressed by how large, heavy, and solid the wheels ... I've heard quite a bit of negative about Redcat products. Primarily 1/10 scale vehicles. I decided that the XT, while having a great price, just didn't have the features that I was hoping for. Then I discovered the MT. This was a whole different animal, so, I bought one. Upon receiving the machine, I was impressed by how large, heavy, and solid the wheels and tires were. Each tire weighs about 2.5 lbs, compared to 1.1lbs for standard 1/5 scale Baja wheels and tires. I was thinking, "This is looking great already!" The transmitter/receiver is an RCR-2CE set. I think they are really a Flysky product with Redcat labeling. The receiver looks exactly like a Flysky version. I'll have to try it with my Flysky FS-GT3C digital transmitter to make sure. The Redcat transmitter isn't anything special or impressive, but, adequate I'm sure being a 2.4Ghz radio. I pulled the body out of the box and was really surprised about its thickness and just heavier in general from a 1/10 scale or even a 1/5 scale body. It looks great and I really like it. I've read that some people have reinforced the body with a few different things, but, I'm not sure I'll mess with that, at least not right now. Then, I clipped the zip ties and pulled out the chassis. This is where things got even better. The engine is a 32cc Fuelie. I believe there're comparable to the Zenorah, etc. engines. After seeing/feeling these huge wheels and tires, the 32cc will probably be a plus. I think the original Rampage MT had a 30cc engine. The MT has numerous aluminum upgrades over the XT as well as a dual-servo steering system. This too is a big plus when trying to turn those monster tires. I really like the short throttle/brake linkages over the Baja vehicles. It appears to be much easier to adjust and the brakes seem better designed for stopping a 40lb machine that can fly around 40mph. After reading many reviews and videos, I'm seeing that even the MT has some weak points. The front/rear bumpers are easily broken and more serious is the front/rear gearbox which is made out of plastic. Several have had problems with breakage. Additionally, the dogbone cups that are original equipment sound like they're pretty weak and easily destroyed. I believe Redcat makes steel versions that hopefully are much stronger. I'm planning on getting the aluminum gearbox halves so when/if I have a problem I can replace the plastic as necessary. The big fuel tank is a nice addition. I've not actually heard how long a full tank might last, but, I'll find out soon enough. I have heard several stories about folks having trouble with pressure building up in the tank and the engine not running right and being difficult to start. A few have made a sort of pressure relief valve that corrects the problem quite well. Overall, I'm quite impressed with this Rampage MT. I plan on updating the review after I've run it for a while and discovered first-hand any issues that might crop up. For now, I have to say for the money, this is a great 4WD 1/5 scale Monster Truck, and I recommend it highly!

Overall the truck looks nice but the engine Suck!! ,when you get it start it works great!! After a week of owning it nothing but head ache!! My freaking arm is so sore from trying to start it, install a an electric starter n it still won't start, no local support at all!! Contact redcat local authorized dealer for support n they don't even recommend this pruduct which they said was junk n they don't mess with it anymore! lol.. So fustrated now I taking it to the lawn mower repair shop!!Overall the truck looks nice but the engine Suck!! ,when you get it start it works great!!
