This delightful story about a leopard and his spots is intended for developing readers, or for adults to share with young children. A leopard who admires his amazing spots is curious about how many spots he has, and since he does not know how to count, he asks a variety of animal friends to help him. He offers a special prize to the one who can count all his beautiful spots and is disappointed to find that many of the animals cannot count. The highest number of spots counted in the story is twenty-nine. This colorfully illustrated book is one from a collection of "Read-it! Readers," and the thirty pages have from one to three sentences per page. The K-2 students with whom I shared this book enjoyed the story and were eager to independently revisit and reread it.
