About this product

Product Information

Trials and Tribulations of Dirty Shame, Oklahoma beautifully showcases Comanche gothic literature, a new genre in Indigenous literature, at its creative best. In the tradition of The Iliad and Paradise Lost, this book is an epic poem of heroic and biblical proportions. Three Indigenous young people discover that the Holy Grail has been on the North American continent for centuries, and in Oklahoma for the last two. Battling both human and supernatural enemies, Velroy, Mia, and Stoney struggle to get the Holy Grail out of Indian Country to save their families and community and bring true peace back to their ordinary, Dirty Shame lives.

Reviews
"Sy Hoahwah has written poems that tear down the bridges between the Comanche and America. He travels the warrior road. His inheritance and obligation is to protect and guard his peoples' way. Hoahwah's wry sense of justice and literary knowledge paints a new road on the tapestry of Indigenous resistance."--Lance Henson, author of The Missing Bead: Poems for the Cheyenne, "Sy Hoahwah's Trials and Tribulations of Dirty Shame, Oklahoma remarkably represents a Comanche-centric narrative that creatively migrates through our tribal geography and history. There is a hero's journey in search of vengeance, justice, and redemption in a creative world that reflects our own mixed, and mixed-up, selves in search of something deeper and more meaningful as human beings."--Dustin Tahmahkera, author of Cinematic Comanches: The Lone Ranger in the Media Borderlands

Accurate item description and pics. Great packing job with great care and emphasis on ensuring the item arrived undamaged using minimum packing materials and with conscientious use of recycled materials. Super-fast shipment at reasonable rate and arriving ahead of schedule. Great communication before and after transaction. Highly recommended A+ / 5 Star seller! Definitely one of my new favorite sellers and will purchase from again. Can't say enough praise for this seller. Highly Recommended!!!!!

This sellers "two day" shipping policy is baloney - it took a over five days and repeated emails before this item shipped. I almost thought I would have to request a refund from eBay. That being said, when it did ship, it was nicely packaged and arrived undamaged. I would not buy from this person again because they don't honor their own policies! I can only leave positive feedback because 1) the item DID arrive, and 2) it was as described. The rest wasn't a great experience.

I dislike complaining, but I'm unhappy with this transaction. The deck/book set, described as "like new," was mailed in such a flimsy envelope that it arrived twisted out of shape, to the point where one of the cards was stuck to exposed glue inside. I wrote to the seller about the situation but received no response. I didn't ask for a return because the price wasn't high, but even at this price I expect more care in packaging. (I have ordered other items from this seller that arrived intact.)
