About this product

Product Information

Brian Pulido's cadaverous comic book heroine springs to animated life in the full-length, made-for-video anime film LADY DEATH. In 15th-century Sweden, an innocent young maiden named Hope discovers that her beloved father is, in fact, the Devil in disguise. Condemned to be burned at the stake by the local townsfolk, Hope strikes a deal with Lucifer to spend eternity in Hell in exchange for escape from her igneous death. But once in the fiery depths, Hope breaks the pact and transforms herself into the voluptuous, white-haired warrior Lady Death, battling to wrest control of Hell away from her demonic father in a last-ditch effort at salvation. Director Andrew Orjuela, screenwriter Carl Macek (ROBOTECH: THE MOVIE), and composer Bill Brown (ANY GIVEN SUNDAY) imbue Pulido's epic tale with a Neil Gaiman-meets-Bruegel style of animation perfectly suited to its gothic subject matter.

    Wonderful story

The Lady Death comics have always been a favorite. I was amazed when I learned that there was an animated movie telling the origins of Lady Death. The story is engaging, the artwork is hauntingly beautiful, and the voice actors are superb. I can find nothing wrong with this movie except the fact that it had to end at some point.

  • Lady Death: The Movie

Its was interesting to see the Comic Version of Lady Death come alive through animation. Tells the story of the beginning of how she became Lady Death and why she became who she became. Not one for the young, a lot of blood and killing. The story is more of revenge for what happened to her and the ones she loved. She learned that she was the daughter of the Devil and she paid the price by being burned at the stake for the sins of the fathers. After she calls forth the dark to save her, she ends up in hell and before her father. She learned that her love and her mother were there held captive. She swears revenge and declares that she will kill her father, she slowly learns that she has powers and sets to get the learning and skills to kill her father. If your into the Lady Death comics you ...

  • LADY DEATH the movie

I may have a particular bias here as I am a comic book fan and a comic book movie fan. So picking up the Lady Death DVD and writing a review may have a slight slant. That being said, I thought the movie was pretty interesting and well done. Brian Palido hired a Japanese animation company, so the animation is very good on the show. The overall premise of the hsow follows the comics and is portraid very well. The show is definetly not for kids. Although it is animated there is a fair amount of gore, vulgarity and some sexual hints, so probably not for youngsters. Overall the show is entertaining and was a good ebay buy.

  • I really enjoyed seeing Lady Death come to life!!

It is always interesting to see the creator of a comic book's version of how the story should look on film. I really enjoyed watching this movie and did so with my entire family. Lady Death is the bomb!! It would be great to see this cartoon style film evolve into a major motion picture which I think would do great at the box office. Keep "HOPE" alive!!

  • Enjoyed the story line & the animation a lot!

This movie has a good story line and even better animation. Lady Death takes her pain and tragedy and turns it into a battle of good vs. evil. She overcomes all odds and kicks butt in the process. This would make a great addition to any adult animation film collection but, is not one I would recommend for the little ones.
