About this product

Product Information

Gaming's most recognizable personalities return to internationally celebrated athletic competition in Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games. Following their 2008-based summer games outing in Beijing, the two mascots and their corporately aligned teams head to Vancouver for the 2010 games, to do their best in cold weather sports such as alpine skiing, speed skating, snowboarding, and bobsled. The game features all the playable characters that competed in Mario & Sonic's original summer games, as well as new personas, such as Metal Sonic and Donkey Kong. Each character is rated in three basic areas -- speed, power, and skill -- so different characters excel in different events. The game features adjustable difficulty settings and other options, designed to make play accessible for competitors of all ages and skill levels, while still providing a challenge for handheld gaming experts. Olympic events in the Nintendo DS version of the game feature touch-screen controls, and competitive multiplayer modes are supported over a wireless connection. An "Adventure Tours" mode allows players to take on quests in order to prevent bad-guy bosses Dr. Eggman and Bowser from kidnapping "snow spirits" and shutting down events. Published by Nintendo in Japan and by Sega elsewhere around the world, Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games is officially licensed by the International Olympic Committee.

    Great graphics and sound

Oh, time to write an actual review. First thing first, somehow, this is a DS game (and not even a DSi game in disguise) with graphics that are even more robust than Persona Q, a 3DS game. I am shocked, this could pass as a GameCube or even a Wii game if it ran at a higher resolution. There is a game by the same name on the Wii, but it is not at all the same game. The story is very compelling. It is a simple storyline, but it is a fun and enjoyable one nonetheless. Basically there are six Snow Spirits responsible for making Snow in Vancouver, Winter Island, and Dream Island. Eggman and Bowser kidnap them so they can host their own Winter Olympics, presumably in either Eggmanland or Koopa Castle. Mario and Sonic then recruit a bunch of team members to help them save the Snow Spirits. The ...

  • Fun trip down memory lane

Not the flashiest game, but a fun time. The game is a series of mini-games centered on Winter Olympics events. Almost all of the events control well and are very fun to play. Nostalgic and very fun.

  • A great group of games. U can't go wrong with Mario!

Snowboarding. skiing, bobsledding, hockey, snowball fights and more. This is a great little group of games. The only problem we've experienced with DSI games is that only one player can play them unless someone else has a DSI close by for a link. My son really enjoys this one.
