The game includes playable songs originally featured in the first four games in the series: Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock, Guitar Hero Encore: Rocks the 80s, Guitar Hero II, and the original Guitar Hero. The collection comprises four dozen of the series' most popular and challenging pre-Guitar Hero: World Tour tracks, including Deep Purple's "Smoke on the Water" and "I Love Rock 'n Roll" by Joan Jet and the Blackhearts (Guitar Hero); "Carry On Wayward Son" by Kansas and Alice in Chains' "Them Bones" (Guitar Hero II); "I Wanna Rock" by Twisted Sister and "Nothin' but a Good Time" by Poison (Rocks the 80s); and "Rock and Roll All Nite" by Kiss and Heart's "Barracuda" (Legends of Rock). All 48 tracks are compatible with the game's full selection of contemporary Guitar Hero: World Tour instruments, including the drum kit and mic controllers, allowing a complete band of players to rock out on tunes previously only available to one or two guitarists. The Smash Hits edition of Guitar Hero also features the series' "Music Studio" song-mixing software, supports the "GHTunesSM" format for sharing songs with friends online, and includes the "Rock Star Creator" custom character designer.

    Great Guitar Hero Game

    If you like guitar hero, you will love this game. It is in the style of guitar hero 4, but, as the title says, has many smash hits across different guitar hero games.

    Guitar Hero Smash Hits - nostalgia in a box.

    I bought this game because the Wii missed out on the first two guitar hero games - Number 2 I missed especially because of the late nights I had with several friends. To keep the good times rolling, Treyarch pumped out full band versions of the ''favorite'' songs of Guitar Hero history. For the most part its true. Sounds good and plays good and its fun to try those good GH classics on the different instruments. One thing I noticed though is that a game like this could have been easily been made ready for downloadable content for GH5 and GH6WOR. I think it was unnecessary to throw this in stores at full price - we have already played these songs. Make sure to look at the setlist of this game before buying it. You might have some songs on your previous GH games. Its a fun product, but ...

    Guitar Hero Smash Hits (Wii)

    Guitar Hero Smash Hits recieved relatively neutral ratings, but I feel that the Wii version deserves a better rating. Why? Because GH1 and GH2 were NOT available on Wii and essentially these songs are "New" for players with the Wii system. Not only that, they are master recordigns and not the covers of the original games. The addition to play the songs on any instrument is also a welcome addition because I found myself wanting to drum and sing along with my GH3 songs. So yah I say this game is worth it if you own a Wii, hate the cover versions on GH1 & GH2, or you want to use vocals and/or drums.
