    Excellent Summer Book

Yes. You've seen the movie. But, have you read the book? Benchley knows his characters and how to write a tail with the necessities and not all the unnecessary fluff. Excellent summer read...especially for thee beach. You're gonna need a bigger boat. :-) Happy reading!

  • Conjures up fear and suspense.

I like reading books that give rise to movies because they include material that can't all be in the movies. I also enjoyed learning the differences, especially concerning the characters, between the movie and the book. Even though I've watched my DVD a hundred times, the book was still interesting and suspenseful -- I could hear the ominous music in my head at the shark's approach. My opinion is that the movie followed the book quite closely and enhanced it greatly. A big "Well done!"

  • Great product. If you're thinking about buying this, then do it!

This was by far, one of the best books I've ever read and I've read many classics. I agree, though, that if you have seen the movie, most of the book seems a bit disappointing. If you haven't seen the film and are thinking about buying the book, then dont watch it, read this book first and you'll find many surprises in store. But overall, it was a wonderful reading experience, my compliments to Benchley, and I felt a tad disappointed at how quickly it ended. It would have been great to have read more.

  • Quaint New England town terrorized by massive underwater predator.

I read Jaws the year it was published. The story is still just as gripping and riveting as it was then and just as current. Jaws is a must read! Pure enjoyment reading one of the most memorable stories of modern literary history. Anyone care for a swim at the beach?

  • Jaws by peter benchley

it has simply to be one of the best films of all time which is in no small part to the excellent book written by peter benchley, simple story made great by excellent characters and a underlying sense of humour as well as danger, playing of one of mans greatest fears the unknown and often misunderstood dangers of the ocean. Highly reccommended. I bought this book as it has been a favourite of mine for many years and the chance to own a first edition was to good to pass up.
