    Ok gift for a Beginner....

    The book offers readers a wide range of tricks that will wow the public but falls short of the promise. I found it to be visually impressive as I'm used to learning from illustrations in these types of books. However, I think the only one who would benefit from this book is an extreme beginner in magic. Most of the tricks in here you probably already know. This entire book would be just a chapter in any other crash course in magic. Material ranges from tricks your uncle would do when you were younger, to the levitation that David Blaine did ages ago on TV. Considering it came out in '06 it should have offered new material on the subject and included some intermediate effects. Otherwise this should have been listed as a beginners guide to close up magic. Also it's lacking in mentalism ...
