    Billy Joel had plenty of hits and this CD pretty much includes all of them. If you're a fan of Billy Joel then you must get this collection.

    Billy Joel -Classical music?

    If you like or love or dislike Billy Joel- One thing you probably do not know about him. His career started out as a little boy playing classical music on the Piano. That is all he played. So when he started writing songs, if you have a good ear for music you can hear Bach, Mozart, etc patterns in his melodies. (not easy) He also writes his songs first and then writes the lyrics to go with them.(most of the time) Piano man is one good example of that. This is pure musical Talent and it shows in his songs. Play Uptown Girl and listen for Bach in the melody.

    The Essential Billy Joel (CD 2001)

    I had never owner a Billy Joel CD before, but my son had one that my wife and him kept borrowing from each other back in the 80's. I had heard many of his songs on the radio and finally saw this collection which has almost all his greatest hits on this one CD. I have owned it a little over a month and have listened to it probably over 30 times while working, and am not the least bit bored with it. From songs like "An Innocent Man" to "Allentown", Billy Joel expresses in words what many of us think ( or have thought )about life's situations. I have purchased many different CDs with collections from both different decades of music to different groups, and this CD has been by far the most satisfying I have ever owned.     A great range of his music.

    They seem to be the best songs, or my favorite at least of each decade. I'm really pleased with it. Billy Joel has the kind of voice I can listen to everyday no matter what i'm doing. He's like wearing basic black, it goes with anything! Or any mood. Of course Billy Joel is and always will be a classic. I only wish he was making new stuff. I bet he still would have alot to give. This is a great cd to purchase. I'm not dissapointed at all.
