Few people knew more about the history of human conflict than Professor Hugh Nibley. But on June 6, 1944, at Utah Beach, he learned more about war than he had gleaned from all the books he'd read combined. General Maxwell Taylor assigned Sergeant Nibley to educate the officers of the 101st Airborne about warfare. But it was the professor himself that received an education while fighting as a member of the most legendary unit of the United States Army. Most war memoirs come either from the bird's-eye view of the general or from the visceral but limited scope of the common soldier. Because of Nibley's unique situation, this book blends both perspectives. I was very happy, finally finding, this Large Print version for my mother, even though I thought $9.99 shipping was a bit excessive. My happiness continued until I opened the shipping container and found a receipt itemizign book and shipping which totaled $15.00 less than I paid. Your suggestion for me to ignore the receipt was not the solution I was looking for when I contacted you. Perhaps a better solution would have been to apologize and insure you would be more cautious for future sales.

    A superb book

    This book is a superb production, not only for the perceptive reminiscences of Hugh Nibley, but because of the multi-dimensional way it weaves in other aspects of the world of WWII. I would recommend most highly to anyone.

    Sergaent Nibley, Ph.d.

    I bought this for my husband. He thought it was OK, not great. He would have enjoyed more of Hugh Nibley writing, less of Alex Nibley's interpretations.
