Notes
Geogaddi is the second album by Boards of Canada, released in February 2002. It presents a darker sound than it's predecessor Music Has the Right to Children. Regarding the title, the band claimed that it has a definite meaning, but that they wanted listeners to decide on their own interpretations.

  • Essential Electronica

While coming just shy of the level of Music Has the Right to Children, Geogaddi is still no lightweight contender. Filled with layer upon layer of fascinating, entrancing sounds, the absolute beauty of this record belays its dark aspects. Certainly the record’s cautionary touching on subject matter like mind control and the Branch Davidian cult are not exactly carefree. Yet the overall effect tends to be more nostalgic and entrancing than frightening. In fact, the tag “Dark Ambient” music that many apply to it loses credibility if you compare it with the claustrophobic paranoia and latent dread of Brian Eno’s Ambient 4: On Land or Aphex Twin’s foreboding, fearful atmosphere on Selected Ambient Works Vol. 2. Rather, Geogaddi floats along like an abstract dream, in and out of several moods. ...

  • Great Dark Electronica Music

This music is amazing. Compared to their other albums, Boards of Canada's Geogaddi is a close tie for 1st place with The Campfire Headphase. Personally, I like the deep beats and the dark rhythms. A particular favorite on this album is 'Dawn Chorus,' but most of the songs are simply superb. There is one con, however - the last track, 'Magic Window', appears to be nothing but silence. Maybe that's just a defect of the CD I purchased, or maybe it's BOC's artistic touch. I'm more inclined to believe the latter. Overall, this music is a must-buy.

  • Secondhand Geogaddi

Picked up for cheap and although case was cracked, CD and insert in great shape.
