Clark's letter of gratitude to Sacagawea, a Shoshone teenager who helped the expedition. A newspaper account of the expedition's return to St. Louis.

    Beautifully enriching book

    I taught history at a middle school and the students and I loved this book. I’ve bought this one for my 9 year old granddaughter, who lives in Oregon, that needs to know about history. This book is awesome

    'A Lewis & Clark Museum in a Book'!!

    When this book first came out I purchased two copies: one for my home library, and one to use during interpretive programs. I had to purchase a new copy because I have given away several copies to my friends and grandchildren! Throughout this delightful volume are numerous [full size] reproduction documents from the expedition of the Corps of Discovery:maps, letters, journal pages, inventories, sketches, and military documents. This is one of the very best books to come out of the Bicentennial celebration of the Lewis & Clark Expedition. Full of color illustrations [both modern and period], well written, with a good bibliography...this is a book which I would recommend for any individual seeking a terrific resource for understanding the history of this epic chapter of the opening of the ...

    I bought this item because I was putting a collection together for my adult son with Lewis and Clark Items and this book is beyond belief. It includes all kinds of maps, diaries, and so many other things! Very nice for any collector or for a student learning about the Lewis and Clark expedition!! Two thumbs up!!!
