Synopsis
This compilation of clever, practical, and awe-inspiring facts and trivia covers the whole story of wine, from ancient Egypt to modern-day Hollywood, presenting a complete resource on everything from sex and wine to food and wine pairings to the best (and worst) vintages throughout history. Line drawings., Whether seeking a Chateau Petrus, a Chateau d'Yquem, or just a decent bottle of the local vin de pays, anyone intrigued or enchanted by wine and its varied delights will find A Wine Miscellany the perfect accompaniment. Refreshingly light on the palate, it's neither pompous nor patronizing but something else altogether-a fascinating and joyful jaunt through the world of vineyards, vinification, and glorious vintages. Arranged and compiled as a true miscellany should be, with a deft sprinkling of facts and comments, observations and insights, A Wine Miscellany is that rarest of books-a perfect gift for the wine connoisseur and, for the newcomer to wine, an entertaining and informative introduction to the charm and marvel of all things vino. Almost every aspect of the history, culture, business, and lore of wine makes a showing within these pages, as do some great stories never before encountered in the usual wine books. So, whether your passion is Claret, Burgundy, or Champagne, Old World or New, and whether you're intrigued by the famous Mouton-Rothschild labels designed by leading artists or curious about the wines favored by (among others) Lord Byron, Shakespeare's Falstaff, or the influential wine writer Robert Parker, A Wine Miscellany is this season's finest vintage, and a pleasure to be savored for years to come., Whether seeking a Ch'teau Pétrus, a Ch'teau d'Yquem, or just a decent bottle of the local vin de pays, anyone intrigued or enchanted by wine and its varied delights will find A Wine Miscellany the perfect accompaniment. Although this book was not as described, with no picture of it in the listing, the seller communicated well and quickly gave me a full refund while letting me keep it. The minimal packaging left the book a bit vulnerable (typical for ThriftBooks), but it did arrive safely and timely. As usual, it’s hit or miss with this seller, but often times you can get great values, and their customer service is always very good. Many other sellers with millions of transactions don’t even communicate.

I've ordered several items from this vendor now and they've always been what they were advertised as. This was no exception. Both discs were in great shape as well as their jewel cases. Delivery is good, packaging is simple but effective for what you're paying and I haven't had any get damaged. Will keep buying from this vendor because of the results so far and good prices, too.
