Long time fan of this series. Still the stuff of nightmares 5 decades later!
All any fan or inductee to classic tv could want. Seminal seventies series on the supernatural. Great premise, score and locations all cemented by veteran actor Daren Mcgavin. A reporter who is his own worst enemy in his quest for fame, cursed it seems to uncover the world's most important stories only to be shot down like some rogue criminal. But hey...he saved the world, not what he wanted but lets him sleep at night. Most nights anyway. Kolchak is one of the most human characters in fiction. Enjoy, C. The series brain from the highly rated TV movie The Night Stalker starring Darren McGavin. Scripts are witty, scary and well written. The cast is excellent with well-developed characters the audience can relate to. It's a pity the series only lasted a year. It was a template for others such as X-Files that follow. Watching the episodes now, some of the stories seem to have been re-worked for X-files and other Sci-Fi/horror shows. There are some surprising guest stars, like Lara Parker, and some before-they-were-famous stars, like Erik Estrada. The show also has links to an older western TV show, 'The Virginian', using those actors.I remember watching 'Kolchak: The Night Stalker' as a kid and being a little scared and a lot fascinated. This is an old TV show lovers dream. Its a combination of sleuth type of stuff and the monsters. That's the part that really got me, was I enjoy watching this again and again. I can remember watching this as a kid with my father late at night. So I would say this is a good deal. This is overall going to be one of my favorite shows that I can get off here.

Very Entertaining Episodes
It is a strange show indeed but very entertaining. It's funny too because of Darin McGavin being a bumbling news guy. On a personal note, I was at a bar once with a girl I planned on taking home later. But I left the bar later to go home to watch an episode planning to come back later which I did and planning to take back up with the girl. However she was with another friend of mine when I got back. He took her home instead of me. A few weeks later we learned she was pregnant with his child. Just pure luck and this show saved me a lot of child support payments. True story.It is a strange show indeed but very entertaining. It's funny too because of Darin McGavin being a bumbling news guy.
