Synopsis
From the #1 New York Times bestselling author of If I Stay comes "a heartbreaking novel about coping with loss" ( People ). When her best friend, Meg, commits suicide by drinking a bottle of industrial-strength cleaner alone in a motel room, Cody is understandably shocked and devastated. She and Meg shared everything--so how did she miss the signs of Meg's depression? But when Cody travels to Meg's college town to pack up the belongings left behind, she discovers that there's a lot that Meg never told her. About her old roommates, the sort of people Cody never would have met in her dead-end small town in Washington. About Ben McAllister, the boy with a guitar and a sneer, and some secrets of his own. And about an encrypted computer file that Cody can't open--until she does, and suddenly everything Cody thought she knew about her best friend's death gets thrown into question. • It was here and I read it

So, I set out getting this book for my daughter to read, but I was between books and figured I'd try this book with an open mind about youth and suicide. It seemed to fall just a bit short of ever pulling me in like some books can, you know the type, you're reading away then all of a sudden you snap out if it to realize you were so immersed into the book that reality had drifted away. The story line just felt a bit too thin and watered down for me to be satisfied. I do however feel that it would be a very good book for teens to read. It can open a much needed conversation between adults and teens to speak about everyday stresses, depression, and other symptoms that can lead to suicide.
