With the onboard SFP uplinks, you can also easily connect to a range of fiber and Ethernet cables to increase switching functionality throughout your infrastructure. The Cisco ME 3400G-2CS-A reduces your risk of unplanned downtimes by providing support for field-replaceable modular components. Instead of taking down the entire access switch to replace broken or defective modules, you can insert and install a new power supply or fan unit without any service interruption. This switch also comes with an advanced alarm system that notifies you when problems occur anywhere in your system. With remote verification and monitoring services integrated into the device, you can quickly initiate troubleshooting measures to prevent system failures. The Cisco ME 3400G-2CS-A employs a three-tier approach that spans network, switch, and subscriber security implementation. Network-based protection safeguards your system against unauthorized access, including features such as access control lists and authentication. Switch-based protection provides support for storm control and configurable per virtual local area network (VLAN) media access control learning to ensure uninterrupted operation. Subscriber-based protection meanwhile, guarantees security among clients, including built-in features such as Internet protocol (IP) source guard, dynamic host configuration protocol snooping and private VLAN. This Cisco product also supports three Cisco IOS images to provide a “pay-as-you-grow” networking architecture. The METROBASE image enables triple play deployment of voice, data and video services, with embedded enhanced quality of service (QoS), robust multicast control and rate-limiting. The METROACCESS image offers layer 2 VPN services, which include 802.1Q tunneling and flex-link.
