    About this product

    Product Information

World War II Morocco springs to life in Michael Curtiz's (THE ADVENTURES OF ROBIN HOOD, YANKEE DOODLE DANDY) classic love story. Colorful characters abound in Casablanca, a waiting room for Europeans trying to escape Hitler's war-torn Europe. Humphrey Bogart plays Richard "Rick" Blaine, a cynical but good-hearted American whose café is the gathering place for everyone from the French Police to the black market to the Nazis. When his long-lost love, Ilsa (Ingrid Bergman), surfaces in Casablanca with her Resistance leader husband, Victor Laszlo (Paul Henreid), Rick is pulled into both a love triangle and a web of political intrigue. Ilsa and Victor need to escape from Casablanca, and Rick may be the only one who can help them. The question is, will he? Top-notch performances include Claude Rains as the chief of the French police and the major authority figure in Unoccupied France, Peter Lorre as the doomed Senor Ugarte, Sydney Greenstreet as Senor Ferrari, and Dooley Wilson as Rick's loyal friend and the café's pianist, Sam. The mesmerizing musical score, by Max Steiner, along with the well-structured plot, flawless acting, and unforgettable dialogue makes this one of the best films of all time.

        most amazing movie

After watching this, I fell asleep on the floor because i'm too poor for a couch. I awoke hours later dreaming I was in the movie and the piano player gave me the winning lottery numbers. I played them 4 days ago and won $500,000 dollars. Wow! Then I watched it again and during my after movie dream, I saw a phone number....it was so clear I couldn't forget it! When I woke up, I called the number and you won't. Believe it, but Jennifer Anniston answered! No way, you say- but we talked awhile and really hit it off! She likes the movie, too and has had similar experiences. There's something magical about the piano music in Casablanca that puts some people in a altered state and they get in touch with the forces of the universe.......I'm flying out to socal to have lunch with Jen , maybe take ...

      • CASABLANCA: one of the great films for a good reason

DVD set described accurately by brrobi7110 who declined to also leave positive feedback for me. CASABLANCA is one of the great, classic movies when Hollywood productions were entertainment art with great actors/actresses in epic stories of worth rather than the generally profanity-laced, excessively-violent, cinematic soft-porn of the 21st Century.

      • Here's Lookin' At this Fantastic DVD Box set, kid! A super SUPER VALUE!

You cannot go wrong with this 2 dvd set. Sit back and enjoy Bogey and Bergman in one of the greatest movies ever made, with all the frills, including commentary (2nd dvd) by Lauren Bacall who discusses Bogeys career. Unmatched, undeniable entertainment with a whole lot of memories, if you're old enough.

      • Casa Blanca . . . Forever a Classic

I am honored to be asked to comment on this movie. If you are too young its only an old black and white movie. As you see it later in life you start to appreciate the suspense and the clock and dagger ( who is really helping who). The movie is a novel in action. And now in my later years of life,, I see how important it is to hold on to the few things that are important in life and the friends that really matter. R

      • A Classic!

Truly a classic! However, one thing that I really disagree with - "Round up the usual suspects". Also, Bogart dying at such a young age? No surprise with his such smoking and drinking. These comments need to come to the open, though they have no home in the "Review". Oh well...
