    Nice addition to my growing Navy :-)

    Transformed into USS Providence SSN-719. With the right numbered decals I think this model could be made into just about any 688 class sub. It's sitting next to my USS Rhode Island SSBN-740 which was also a conversion, Ohio class Trident sub model, both in 1/350 scale.

    Good, but frustratiing

    When completed, the model looks really good. The problem is completing it. This kit comes with 3 different conning towers and two upper halves of the sub and, in theory, you follow the directions to build one of the three versions of this sub. The problem are that the directions are vague and not all in English, and it becomes frustrating experience trying to build the version you want. On top of that, the painting guide is confusing (what you see on the guide is not at all what you see on the box cover). When it was finished it looks great, but it was a real paint to get there.

    Nice kit of Los Angeles Class Nuclear Sub

    Nice kit of Los Angeles Class Nuclear Sub. Comes with multiple parts to represent 3 different variants of the class with alternate tops for the conning tower for antenna and periscopes deployed and retracted while running submerged. Also Includes a few laser etched brass parts as well. Separate color chart shows appropriate color scheme with decal placement based on variant. Relatively simple kit with few parts. Mooring cleats are very small and easily lost but are in keeping with the scale of the model.

    This is worth doing.

    This model is not for the faint-of-heart. Completely familiarize yourself with the instructions. They aren't very well written, but they work. This kit covers all versions of the LA class class. Just familiarize yourself with the version you want to build, the 688 or 688i. I used the Takiya paints with an airbrush. That gave me the exact colors I was looking for.
