Slow Down Cookie!
I have the fastest eating dog in the world. Used to scoop all of her food up in 2 bites. I had to do something about it, but what? I remembered hearing about a bowl with something in the middle to make them have to slow down on gulping their foods. I looked on eBay and found this DuraPet Slow Feed Dog Bowl. Since I have a Borzoi, I ordered the large size. At first she learned how to scoop around the bowl quickly, but then began slowing down because she found she was missing some of her food. While she still eats fast, it is nowhere near the speed she once had. She's able to digest her food more easily without "losing it" due to eating too quickly. I bought this bowl for our Pit/Boxer mix. Great breed, but one of their down sides is they eat too quickly, thus regurgitating much of their food sometimes. Research told me two main solutions for this: 1) Use a bowl constructed for slower feeding 2) Elevate their feeding station . Well, the first slow-feed bowl we bought was plastic. Ummm......yeeeah. I wonder just how many PSI of bite power these dogs have? The bowl lasted a couple of days before she just tipped it over to get the food faster and then proceeded to chew up the bowl. THIS bowl is very high quality. It is easy to clean, has a beautifully wide base to keep it from tipping, and a quality non-slip bottom. We use it with food tote for elevated eating and it works wonderfully! If I had this bowl BEFORE the tote, I would have ... I bought this bowl for our Pit/Boxer mix.
