A Value Option from the respected Japanese brand.
This retailer offered to get it here faster than the others. Then he topped that by getting it to me in the US in less than a week. Maybe it was b/c i paid using PayPal. The Kiwaya is a very utilitarian looking uke, but it sounds very nice. Decent volume for a laminate uke. Warm sound you expect from mahogany. Decided on this after seeing the Got a Ukulele review.

Best value for the money
I am somewhat of a ukulele addict, I own several, including a Martin Bamboo, this "made in China" Kiwaya KSU1, and a Kiwaya FS-5G (Famous) made in Japan that costs three times what this one costs. This little gem right there is *excellent* value for the money. Great sound and perfect intonation. People online say the Chinese Kiwayas aren't as good as the ones made in Japan. They have obviously never gotten one of these in their hands! My Kiwaya KSU1 is absolutely flawless. There is no visual imperfection at all. The intonation is perfect all across the fretboard. The saddle in uncompensated which does not affect intonation so who cares? The only difference I can see (comfort wise) is the frets are slightly bigger on this cheaper version. This doesn't justify the extra 200 bucks so I will ... If you value your money, then take this uke. You will not be disappointed. I will post a picture so you can compare the two ukes.

Affordable version of company's more refined higher end instruments, made possible by concentrating on sound quality, not frills. Loud, resonant , great sound, looks fine if basic, has own modest style. A little unfinished , a fine trade-off for such exceptional sound. Highly recommended, sounds as good as instruments costing several times more, and better than many. Has this company's mysterious laminate magic that exceeds some solids.Affordable version of company's more refined higher end instruments, made possible by concentrating on sound quality, not frills.
