This book was purchased for use as a tool in my quest for additions to my collection of salt & pepper shakers. It contains very few photographs of shaker sets which was very disappointing. Photos are the easiest way to match those in a collection since there are originals and some are reproductions made by different manufacturers in the marketplace. There are also close similarities and many different sets that may be confused as the subject set. This identification publication may be useful for someone who is very familiar with shakers and has been involved for many years as the written descriptions will make sense to them; but you still have to read the description which takes longer than an image. The shaker sets are well described. The authors' introduction was delightful as well ... This book was purchased for use as a tool in my quest for additions to my collection of salt & pepper shakers. Not a good price guide book
I am so disappointed in this book. There are very few pictures to compare to. Most of the book is just writings about what a salt and pepper shaker looks like but no picture to see if it is what you have. Not happy with this purchase at all

This is the most comprehensive book that I have found about salt and pepper shakers. The descriptions are good, photographs are plentiful. This book is my number one reference when researching new shakers.
