About this product

Product Information

The Ugly Prince Duckling is a one-way ticket into a virtual world created by children's author, Hans Christian Andersen. Taking the role of Hans, gamers begin as a homeless 14 year old in the year 1820. Players are employed by a friendly tailor and must work their way up the social ladder and solve several puzzles in order to proceed through the game. By increasing their status in the community, gamers gain access to previously guarded areas. As Hans begins his journey, he meets a young princess who he must eventually save from the evil Mr. Schwartz. Helped by the trolls, Mr. Schwartz plans to kidnap the princess and trade her for the throne. Gamers also come into contact with a variety of characters from Andersen's fairy tales including The Little Match Girl, the Shepherdess, and The Little Mermaid.

  • Fun game but short

This game was a great look back at some classic tales. You are the young Hans Christian trying to get by in a small town where you have no money and no friends. You have to work your way up the town by earning money and performing tasks for the townspeople. Along the way you learn about the dark goings on in the town and meet some fun characters. I liked this game because it spoke to the child inside me. However, it was a little short, and sadly repetitive. After the first level, you have pretty much played the entire game, and you have to keep doing the same tasks to progress. I would recommend this game to anyone who wants to get a blast from the past, and see cameos from some of the most beloved characters in fairytale history.
