About this product

Product Information

This five DVD set is a most complete documentation of the fifty years that NASA has been dramatically moving the country and the planet into the next frontier of exploration. Featuring a compelling narrative pace and originally composed music, this documentary presents rare footage from Apollo 11, John Glenn's flight, Skylab and much much more. Additionally, some rarely covered topics such as spy satellites, travel past Mars, the space station and the launching and retrieval of satellites are also covered. Compiled in a space saving Digipak which takes up less space than ordinary DVD multi packs.

  • What a disappointment

This compilation is for most part terrible. One DVD has terrible loud music all over it - a weird uncomfortable music that is. Another one has early space footage that was very poorly scanned from the original film, it looks like the scan lamp was already half worn because the image is simply dark with almost no colors. Another DVD it's really Nasa employees hammering how the space station is useful, just like a salesman repeating his pitch over and over again, not even showing some decent images with the Earth. The Apollo DVD is the usual footage that you already have on media platforms but again, lower quality and sound. Only good part was the Apollo-Soyuz mission which is quite shortly presented (no real development) - this footage is also present on media platforms. All in all really ...

  • The most concise report on Nasa I ever saw

Stunningly captivating videos of new times and times of old. From it's infancy to the modern space era of Nasa, this is just brilliant and breath taking.

  • NASA: From Past to Present

NASA: Fifty Years of Space Exploration is one book you cannot judge by it's cover. You will not find much slick video here, what you will find are the original films produced by NASA throughout their history. It is a great kick to see the 1960's production of the Mercury program and the semi-psychedelic video styling from the latter Apollo movies. The Box Set covers the Mercury program through the Space Shuttle program as well as some videos on the Challenger disaster. Again, being NASA produced materials they play like archived footage. Being transferred to Digital format has only cleaned them up a little. Overall this selection is a must have for Science Educators, NASA Enthusiasts, and those nastalgic of the early days of space exploration. The average viewer will find the content stale ...
