Aftermarket; not Tecumseh Name Brand
This was advertised as "New Tecumseh . . . " but it did not come in Tecumseh packaging and appears generic like the others sold for $5 less than I paid for this one. If I knew it was the same as all the other aftermarket generics I would have bought the $10 one instead of this one for $15. Not worth sending back. The coil does appear of decent quality and so far works fine (it's only been installed a day).This was advertised as "New Tecumseh . . . Cheap aftermarket part, Burned out quickly
I got this to replace the ignition coil on a Lawn Boy mower that would occasionally lose spark and not start. First of all, the spark plug wire feels cheap and it wouldn't click snugly onto the spark plug. After installing this, I started the mower a couple of times. The second time, it sputtered and died, then wouldn't start again. I tested and there was no spark. Put the original coil back in and it started and ran fine again. Buying this turned out to be a waste of money.I got this to replace the ignition coil on a Lawn Boy mower that would occasionally lose spark and not start. Good replacement for original
Although the part is smaller and lighter than the original, it installed exactly the same and produces adequate spark to run the lawn mower. The picture here is not quite right. The part I got has shorter sides and does come with a rubber boot on the high voltage lead.

the refitting into the lawn mower.
I had to make the holes bigger to make it fit into my lawn mower. after an couple hours of filing and driling then it finally fit . It started at first pull. The mower seems like it has more power too. I hope it will last.

Tecumseh coil to replace LawnBoy coil
I am trying to replace the Lawn Boy breaker ignition with an electronic unit. The first coil I purchased, was an attempt to press it onto a Lawn Boy armature. The armature is slightly larger than the hole in the coil. The armature was destroyed and the coil was severely damaged. I purchased a second coil since it was not very expensive. With this one, the mounting holes were re-drilled to fit the Lawn Boy. When started, the mower ran extremely well but slow. I had neglected to set the governor properly. The next attempt with the governor properly adjusted, I neglected to connect the spark plug and burned out the coil. Totally my fault. The electronic coils are fragile and need to be properly grounded to function. A third coil is to arrive shortly. I will be more careful this time. The ...
