Designed for use with Sega's SegaScope 3-D Glasses, Zaxxon 3-D is based on Zaxxon, the classic isometric shooter that was popular in the arcades and on home systems in the early 1980s. This time, however, the outer space action is from a first person, 3D perspective.<br><br>Two thousand years of galactic peace has come to an end as the evil Vargan Military Empire has declared war on Earth. A vicious, yet intelligent race, the Vargans have built a line of space battle fortresses reaching for our planet, each equipped with fuel tanks, cannon batteries and homing missiles. Each fortress hides a powerful Mothership and is protected by Vargan Death Fighters.<br><br>Against all odds, you must commandeer a Zaxxon fighting ship on a one-man mission to restore peace to the galaxy. In each of nine levels of play, you must shoot your way past enemy Death Fighters, run the gauntlet in the enemy battle fortress, and defeat the Vargan Mothership. "Running the gauntlet" consists of piloting a ship over, around, and through a series of walls and magnetic barriers. Other obstacles and enemies include cannon batteries, tanks, homing missiles and base missiles.<br><br>As you fly through the fortresses, you must shoot fuel tanks to restore your fuel supply. You can also grab power up capsules that give you increased fuel tank capacity, extra lives, heightened speed, increased weapon power and extra weapons. There are three types of upgraded, changeable shots: Nuclear, Hyper and Miracle. When you are on target, a firing sight will appear onscreen. Keep in mind that firing shots uses extra fuel in this exclusive release for the Sega Master System.

    Zaxxon 3-D

    In the mid 1980's a battle between two video game gaints, Sega and Nintendo, caused many innovations to occur in video game history. Nintendo blocked Sega by causing all of their clients to make games only for the NES. Sega, on the other hand, had already broke through the market earlier with their own line of arcade games such as Frogger, Zaxxon and many others. Both made games for the Atari first, then came out with their own console. Sega had a more powerful console and made what they called 3-D games. A handful of games were made, then the production was stoped with the failing market against the Victor Nintendo and the switch to the more compact Sega Master System II. The game is a good game, but you must own a Sega Master System I because the second and very rare third version ...

    Makes your eyes bleed, but a fun shoot em up nonetheless

    It's a Sega master system games and it's in 3-D what more could you need? But generally the ascetics of the game is far from appealing and the gameplay it self isn't terrible but as long as you could find this game fairly cheap might as well give it a go seeing there is not too many 3-D enabled games for the SMS.

    3D Heaven.

    Very fun Classic 3D Arcade shooter from seag. Zaxxon was old school gaming at its best. This game is great, problem is finding the SMS 3D glasses.
