In director Anatole Litvak's superb thriller SORRY, WRONG NUMBER, Barbara Stanwyck stars as the alluring, wealthy, and irritating Leona Stevenson, a hypochondriac whose psychosomatic illness has her bedridden. Leona's only lifeline is the telephone, which she uses to excess. One evening, Leona impatiently tries to locate her henpecked husband Henry (Burt Lancaster), who is late in coming home. However, when phone lines cross, she overhears two thugs plotting a murder. Desperate to thwart the crime, Leona begins a series of calls--to the operator, to the police, and others--and eventually deduces the shocking identity of the victim. Meanwhile, unbeknownst to Leona, Henry is having problems of his own--he's become involved in a swindle and is being blackmailed. Featuring stunning use of sound and lighting, SORRY, WRONG NUMBER follows Leona, trapped in her lush apartment, as she tries to prevent an innocent from being murdered.

    Barbara Stanwyck at her Best

    In a mesmerizing 1948 thriller, Barbara Stanwyck plays Leona Stevenson, a rich wife of a bored husband, Henry, (Burt Lancaster), who has gotten himself in trouble in New York City by embezzling merchandise from the company where he works as VP. The pieces of the story play out in various conversations that Leona has during the movie. She is a bedridden invalid--or so we think--when she learns by Western Union that Henry won't be home due to a convention in Boston. From there she accidentally gains access to a call between two men who are planning a murder that night at 11:15. With her husband not coming home, the murder plans are not that upsetting to her until she realizes on a phone call to her husband's secretary that he had a strange visitor at the office--Sally Hunt Lord (Ann ...

    A good old classic mystery movie!

    This is far most one of my favorite old movies, it is a great mystery movie. Keep you in supense! I would recommend it to watch!
