Product Information
With 48 auto-sensing ports and two dual-personality ports (auto-sensing or mini-GBIC) the HP ProCurve J4899B can help build a switched workgroup network. Providing dedicated bandwidth to the connected servers, computers, and printers, this multi-port switch features AutoMDIX, making it possible to use straight-through or twisted-pair cables for device connection. The dual-personality ports on this HP switch come enabled as RJ-45 connectors, but installing mini-GBIC into a slot will automatically enable it and disable RJ-45. The intuitive LED indicators on the front of the HP ProCurve J4899B clearly display which mode is enabled. Just push the “select” button on the face to read the link information for each associated port. With console and web browser interfaces, this HP switch is easy to configure and use, and the HPTopTools utility makes network management simple. Once the multi-port switch is operational and passes the self-test, it is ready for mounting and provides several mounting options including wall mounting, a communication equipment rack, or cabinet. Each unit includes mounting brackets with customizable mounting holes and 12-24 EIA/TIA screws for a variety of mounting or stacking options. The HP ProCurve J4899B operates without an on-off switch, powering up automatically upon connection to a power source.
