About this product

Product Information

L.A. gumshoe Mick St. John (Alex O'Loughlin) prowls the darkened streets of L.A. trying to crack his cases. But his predilection for the nightlife doesn't have solely a professional basis--Mick's a vampire. First bitten 60 years ago, Mick now he uses his paranormal powers to help humans rather than drain their blood. But his double life leads to complications caused by his lingering affiliations with the undead--among them his bloodsucking stockbroker friend, Josef (Jason Dohring), and vampiric ex-wife, Coraline (Shannyn Sossamon)--as well as his growing affections for a delectable reporter, Beth (Sophia Myles), who he saved years ago. This collection presents all 16 episodes of the show's first season.

    OMG! What happened?

Why, oh, why did they ever cancelled this show after only one season??? You can hardly see actors connect and have such a good chemistry nowadays. If you look closely, you could tell this guys had fun filming this, it even looked like they were improvising. Some are calling this a copycat of "Forever Knight" (I also own it's three seasons), but I don't think this is fair. The guidelines are similar, but that's where the resemblances stop. To each his own, this was also a good show.

  • Moonlight - The Complete First Season

Why CBS cancelled this series is beyond me! It had the audience, the fans, even a following. And they cancelled the series? The storyline was great. Alex O' Loughlin and Jason Dorhing were very convincing. They made their characters believable and exciting. The are sexual, hot and "I wouldn't kick them out of bed for eating crackers!" The relationship between Beth & Mick draws you into their world. And the way their lives are so easily intertwined makes it all work. And, again, very believable, very addicting and making us want more! It's too bad CBS didn't see the popularity and money making potential this show had for them. The series could have gone on for at least another three or four years easy. Unfortunately, because of their decision, it is lose lose all the way around! ...

  • Best TV show in a long time!!!!

I am so addicted to this show, which won the People's Choice Award for Best New Drama, and deservedly so. This has got to be the sexiest and most original vampire story to come out in a long time! Alex O'Loughlin is THE breakout star of the year, and he is perfectly cast as vampire detective Mick St. John, who struggles with accepting his fate as a self-proclaimed "monster" while acknowledging his very real, very human feelings for reporter Beth Turner. If you love vampires and wonder what it would be like if vampires walked among us, undetected, in modern-day L.A., you should give Moonlight a try. This show has it all~ action/suspense, drama, romance and humor. The writing is great, and the cast is superb, from O'Loughlin in the lead role, to Sophia Myles, Jason Dohring and Shannyn ...

  • Best show ever.

This was one of the best shows ever. Really. It was only cancelled because of the Writer's strike. If you're into Vampires at all, you'll like this. Fans of True Blood should love this. If you still remember Forever Knight then this has a similar premise(Detective Vampire that wants to be human again. Tries to save people to amend for his Vampire sins). The show also has one of the best music compilations ever. Also, the orchestral pieces composed specifically for key scenes are pure genius. Sometimes I'll turn on an episode and let it run in the background just so I can hear the music while I'm at home.

  • Moonlight - Vampires all grown-up

This series was well-written (with a few holes) and well-acted. It was refreshing to see some vampires with some bite to them. All the stories today seem to feature vampires frozen at age 17 and full of victorian era angst. I admit to being a sucker for the "he's a private investigator... but also a wizard, vampire, " etc. Those storylines allow some fantasy while still set in the real world. If you liked The Dresden Files, this is your kind of series. A somewhat reluctant hero with an overdeveloped sense of duty to protect "innocents" from supernatural bad guys (and girls and things), but also with a healthy dose of dry humor. And occasionally the need to show a sexy darker side. I recommend Moonlight as a guilty pleasure for those mainstreamers who like an occaisonal bit of ...
