About this product

Product Information

FIGHT CLUB is narrated by a lonely, unfulfilled young man (Edward Norton) who finds his only comfort in feigning terminal illness and attending disease support groups. Hopping from group to group, he encounters another pretender, or "tourist," the morose Marla Singer (Helena Bonham Carter), who immediately gets under his skin. However, while returning from a business trip, he meets a more intriguing character--the subversive Tyler Durden (Brad Pitt). They become fast friends, bonding over a mutual disgust for corporate consumer-culture hypocrisy. Eventually, the two start Fight Club, which convenes in a bar basement where angry men get to vent their frustrations in brutal, bare-knuckle bouts. Fight Club soon becomes the men's only real priority; when the club starts a cross-country expansion, things start getting really crazy. Like Tyler Durden himself, director David Fincher's FIGHT CLUB, based on the novel by Chuck Palahniuk, is startlingly aggressive and gleefully mischievous as it skewers the superficiality of American pop culture. Outstanding performances by Norton and Pitt are supported by a razor-sharp script and an arsenal of stunning visual effects that include computer animation and sleight-of-hand editing. One of the most unique films of the late 20th century, FIGHT CLUB is a pitch-black comedy of striking intensity.

    Anarchy at its finest!

A wonderful film that can keep you guessing at times, the characters are quirky and it is fun to watch them interact. One guy is on a quest for self realization, but as in all wishes or quests, one needs to be careful what it is that one asks for. The other character is everything the first guy is not, their relationship takes on new dimensions almost moment by moment, and they wind up in many interesting situations. I don't want to give spoilers to the plot, so sorry if this is super vague; just watch the film and you too should become a fan.

  • Epic depiction of gen-x and our lack of living! Great!

I think that most people miss the point on this movie. Yes, it is a great action film with great fight scenes. Yes, Brad Pitt is a really good bad guy. Yes, The music is great. Yes, the apocalyptic regime known as "Project Mayhem" is led by an anarchistic genius. The point of this movie is that we as a society have grown so accustomed to being a part of the big picture that we forget to be individuals. Yeah, yeah; I am too analytical; whatever! "Generation X" followed the "ME Generation" and was followed by the "Why Generation". I am a member of Gen-X and I know that Gen-X was and is lost in mediocrity. This film will ring true always because of one simple fact; most people are sheep. Even the people who join the fight clubs and "Project Mayhem" are following someone else's lead. ...

  • Finally got around to buying it!

I've seen "Fight Club" several times and is probably one of my top 5 favorite films. It has everything I love: dark comedy, satire, surrealism, a shocking revelation towards the end, and all-around head trip! It's very re-watchable, one of those films where the viewer will notice something new & revealing each time. I saw it at least twice before I noticed the comedic aspect, and knowing what's going to happen makes it that much more enjoyable! Glad I finally got around to buying it!

  • Fight Club ( DVD, 2002)

***MINIMAL SPOILERS*** Edward Norton starts the movie by being the Narrator, telling the events in this episode of the mind going in a most twisted direction. He is so dumbed-down by his meager existence, he begins to make an obsessive hobby out of going to as many Support Groups he can sign up for, eventually setting his life's schedule around the meetings. he meets up with Marla Singer( Helen Bonham Carter), who throws several curveballs at him. On a plane trip for business, he meets Tyler Durden( Brad Pitt). Durden teaches Norton how to make soap out of rejected body waste from a liposuction clinic, then re-sells that soap right back at the large-bottomed( not how he says it in the movie) women. Also the by-product is a powerful explosive that can be used for "other purposes". The ...

  • Probably my favorite movie ever!

What do I like about this movie? The cast is amazing - every role is filled by an actor that fits it like a glove - Norton, Pitt, support cast - all great! The story is solid - as you've already read, there is an unexpected (yet very awesome) twist at the end. You're also not left confused, which can be a big problem in movies of this nature - the movie does a great job of recapping and leaving the viewer in awe. Even the soundtrack is good! What didn't I like? Honestly, I only feel the movie could be improved if they had made it a little bit longer and added a few more complex events (if you know what the twist is, you should know what I mean). I feel it would help to drive the point home, and make the viewer even more intrigued. Keep in mind: The language, violence, and sexual ...
