Great machine!!!
This is such a great little machine if you are looking for a non-computerized machine. The only con for me (and it is not a big one) is it does not have the needle up/down feature. Nice even stitches, very easy to operate, and relatively quite. Also, the instruction manual is very easy to understand. I would recommend this machine to anyone who does not want all the bells and whistles and headaches of a computerized machine. This is such a great little machine if you are looking for a non-computerized machine. The only con for me (and it is not a big one) is it does not have the needle up/down feature. No Right Straight stitch
The Needle does not go all the way to the right for a straight stitch.. I've never had a sewing machine that didn't offer this feature. I have to purchase a new foot to accommodate this issue.

Excellent heavy duty machine
I like this heavy duty sewing machine. The aluminum base feels great and adds a bit more weight to the machine so it doesn't vibrate when sewing. The black hd1000 also comes with additional accessories which are a great value, the waking foot, Teflon foot, 2 patterns, stickers and a hard cover. The white HD1000 looks great but I think the accessories really adds value to this package; although the machine is stunning in black. Would buy this again, especially if you need a basic machine that can handle any project such as quilting or bag making. I like this heavy duty sewing machine. Love Janome
I bought my last Janome 20 years ago. Love it still. This one is almost the same model with 20 years of improvements. I need it to take with me to classes and events as well as sewing at home. If it's anywhere near as good as my old one, It's a winner. Light weight, compact, works extremely well and looks great.
