    One of the best movies ever made

    I've read reviews that trash this movie as boring, stupid, and not having martial arts in it. They don't get it. This isn't Hollywood with a bunch of stuff without style, or just flashes from one quick, multi-cut scene to another to make it look like something more is going on than there actually is. This is story-telling. It's immersive and moody, with characters being developed over a period of time. You come to know and care about them. It's not in your face with force-fed overviews of any aspect that deserves our attention. The villagers' plight is agonizing. Their struggle, and the dilemma of the samurai trying to decide if they can, should, or even will help them, is intelligently thought out, turning more than just a surface of stones (while the "surface only approach" remains a ...
