Follow the story that poignantly depicts strength, weakness, reality, and utopia in regards to two traveling acquaintances, who wander the country searching for a better life for themselves. Based on a novel by Gary Sinise, 'Of Mice and Men' stars Oscar nominees Gary Sinise (George) and John Malkovich (Lennie). Lennie is a big man with a childish behavior and trouble seems to be his closest friend. For this reason, Gary has to play the part of a brother's keeper and regularly plan their next move. They finally get a job as farmhands, and are good at it, regardless of the boss's mean-spirited son, who assumes strict supervision on the farm. However, the boss has a dangerously seductive wife who falls victim of Lennie's compassion. Watch this film and find out if George will choose to make a compassionate decision of his own.

Gem of a movie
Based on a Steinbeck novel, the story reveals the hardship of two migrant workers in the 1930s. Malkovich and Sinese at the beginning of their film careers are outstanding.

To fully understand most movies that are based upon a book it is a good idea to read the book first, but in most cases that leads to a grave disappoinment as a film can never capture the contents in the same way a book does. However good a film it will always have to portrait things differently than a book simply because it is a different type of media. Not so with "Of Mice and Men". There are of course details which have been changed as the beginning scene for example, but that does not significantly change the storyline or the meaning that was intended by John Steinbeck. This movie is a perfect adaptation to the novel and captures all important motives. Important facts of the novel are brilliantly set into motion while the contents is hardly changed. This is walking a thin line for every ... Did justice to the book
I am unsure about any earlier versions, but this version follows very closely along with the book. This was the first time that I ever remember seeing Gary Sinise and I knew that he would be one to watch. John Malkovich did an outstanding job, as usual. I think John Steinbeck would really be pleased with how well his words were put to screen.
