About this product

Product Information

From the creator of LA CAGE AUX FOLLES comes a tasty comedy of (table) manners. Pierre and his snobbish friends enjoy a cruel tradition, hosting dinner parties and seeing who can bring dullest, most idiotic guest. Pierre is confident he has found a real champion in Francois, an accountant whose favorite hobby is making matchstick models of famous tourist attractions. But the tables turn when Pierre gets stuck in his apartment for the weekend with Francois, and is forced to dine on his just desserts.

  • Very Funny Treatise on Social Classes

A group of elitest snobs invite "guests" to dinner parties, the point of which is to see who can find the most boring (read: nerdy, goofy) people they can find. Normally, these "guests" are aloof to the scathing critiques that follow. A particular soiree is foiled by a bumbling but lovable toothpick architect who ends up teaching his famous friend a very valuable lesson in life! You have to see it to get the nuances and just plain excellent acting/timing that make this a French comic classic; with sub-titles is best. Try to avoid the English-synched version.

  • Don't concern yourself with the subtitles...

An incredibly funny and charming film featuring only a few actors with most of the movie taking place in an apartment. The negative and positive relationships that build between the characters in under two hours is an absolute pleasure to watch, and all of this while laughing your butt off! This clever and unlikely "buddy" movie is not like the one's that you've seen before... Discipline yourself to sit through the first fifteen minutes of subtitles, by that time you'll forget you're reading and you'll certainly be glad you did!

  • Great Foreign Film!

This is a much loved filmed I've watched on IFC for years. This is a story of a man who thinks he is superior to everyone around him, and even has an "idiot's dinner" every week where his friends all try to bring the best "idiot". Everything thing goes wrong for this supposedly superior human, and we just enjoy laughing at his situation that he brought on himself! Great film!!

  • Fun in France!

An old movie that has great characters, hilarious misunderstandings and fun for mature audiences.
