David LaChapelle's Rize is Beautifully Bizarre
I wasn't sure what to expect with Rize - I thought it would be somewhere between David LaChapelle's MTV and BET music videos and the rave reviews top critics gave it... the result was indeed a mixture of both. Rize was provocative, fun, different and certainly powerful as LaChapelle chornicles urban hip-hop dance called clowning and krumping. LaChapelle of course uses film, music and lighting to make this very hip-hop & MTV-esque - but that's part of the fun of Rize. It was nice to see that form of art.. Kids being able to express there self and let out emotions and do something they love without fighting and guys... Although it still seemed kind of like a gang unit how the rivaled each other wish it would be so much of a competition but more of just and art form..
