About this product

Product Information

Despite repeated warnings to stay away, a group of fun-loving but none-too-bright teenagers set out to reopen the eerie Camp Crystal Lake, which closed 20 years earlier after a series of bizarre and unexplained deaths. Now someone is lurking in the woods, spying on the happy campers, and plotting a gory, grisly revenge on those who would disturb the camp's slumber. A horror classic that set the standard for slasher flicks of the 1980s.

I purchased this item on Jan 30,2024 and paid for it immediately. It's now Feb 19,2024 and it still has not been shipped. I sent a shipping inquiry about 10 days ago, with no reply. I just sent a second inquiry requesting a refund because the item didn't show up by the required date. Seller issued a refund almost immediately. Sellers prices are good, but shipping and communication is poor. I would only recommend this seller if you're not in a rush to receive your purchased item.

  • Friday the 13th

Friday the 13th has the be the best known 80's slasher series. While some - if not most - would consider Halloween to be the best film of the genre, Friday has to be the one to beat. With 10 movies, countless copycats and millions of fans this movie is a MUST for movie buffs. Even if you are not a big horror fan Friday has that cheesy/low budget/80's vibe that is a genre all of its own. Most important of all this is the movie that started the "horror movie survival rules". You know - Don't go investigate the strange noise, the only virgin girl is the one to survive, don't take showers - someone always dies in the shower, usually after having sex. The creepy/boozer/mentally challenged guy is NOT the killer. Don't go down in the basement and if you do, don't say "I'll be right back". Don't ...

  • The Original!!!

This movie is great. All you people that didn't see this one until after you saw some of the later films can stop bad mouthing this movie. You know for a fact that you loved it until you saw who the killer was. So stop complaining. This was a revolutionary movie that brought gore and over the top violence to the fore-front of Horror films and forever changed the genre. The story, in a nutshell is a young handicapped boy drowns in the lake of his summer camp. Some years later the camp is reopened after some murders happened, resulting in the camp closing. The acting is good, the effects are great even with today's standards and the story proves to be horrifying. Now that it's open again, councelors for Camp Crystal Lake are getting killed. Brutal, vicious murders, traps, stalking and tons ...

  • A must for any slasher fan. For others, it's a curiosity.

This is one of those films where no one quality stands out in the movie - the characters aren't well-developed, the music isn't very memorable, and the dialogue isn't very good. But Friday the 13th is an example of a film where the sum is greater than its parts. The plot doesn't exactly have much originality - a bunch of teenagers visit a camp, and start getting slaughtered one by one. While the plot is simple, its pace is fluid and consistent, and doesn't move too fast or too slow. It seems this film was put together solely for self-satisfaction, rather than pleasing the masses. As a result, this under-produced, low-budget film might break a lot of rules standardized by Hollywood, but its offbeat approach makes the film "feel" more fresh than it really is. It's enjoyable for reasons ...

  • great classic horror/slasher film!

what can i say that probably hasn't already been said about this film? well, i'll just state the obvious: it's a great film that helped start the "slasher" genre. it's a bit slow for about the first half of the film, but from the very beginning the body count is pretty steady, even if the kills are kinda cheesy. the end has an awesome, crazy, scary twist and the whole story unravels in about the last 20 minutes or so, so it ends up paying off and redeeming itself by the end. overall, it's a pretty good older horror film that everyone should check out, at least once, not to mention the 11 sequels that this one movie spawned!! 4/5 stars.

  • Remember! This one started it all.

Keep in mind that this was the original slasher film. It would have rated 5 stars but so many other ripped it off that its lost a bit of its charm. The acting is okay..catch Kevin Bacon in one of his first rolls. Camp Crystal Lake had been closed for years because of a few murders that happened, a few fires and a little boy drowning. The effects are pretty amazing considering it was done in the early 80's. Betsy Palmer is great!!! Marcy gets axed in the face and the rest is history... a horror classic. Watch it alone in the dark. a must for all horror buffs.
