    Who can beat an Intel Xeon CPU for this price? It works great as a 2nd CPU in my Dell Precision 690 Workstation. Exact same model and type too. Fits very well and performs like a champ! Base Clock Speed: 2.99GHz (Very close to 3.00GHz) Cores: 2 Cache: 8MB Compatibility: Intel LGA771 Socket , Modified Intel LGA775 Socket (Not for LGA sockets after year 2007) Brand: Intel Year: 1998 - 2006 (Mine was a year 2006) Cooler mount pressure (Pressure applied from cooler for system to use CPU) : 5LBS Down Operating Temp: 10 C to 100 C (Keep it at 50 C to 80 C for best results) OS Compatibility: Windows: 7, 8 (not 8.1 or 8NT), 10, Server 2000, Server 2005, Server 2012 Linux: Ubuntu (Latest) , CentOS (Latest) , Fedora (Latest) MacOSX: 10.5.X (Anything above 10.5.X will not read the CPU)

    Good if you have any LGA771 slots open.

    I got two of these chips for an old server that I tinker with. They work well and are about as powerful as the slot they are in allows them to be. That being said, these are old tech. If you are actually building a server, I recommend something newer. I rated them highly because for what they are and when they were released, they're pretty good. They also have VT support for virtual system services, which can be good for those of us that use multiple virtual instances. They do not have hyper-threading. For further technical information, I recommend reading the Intel ARK profile of these chips to further acquaint yourself with them.

    I haven't tested all of the 15 processors, but 2 of them have been running 24/7 for about a week in my workstation, fast and reliable. I thought the packaging was a little iffy, but it seems to have been adequate. The price was good and the shipping was quick.
