  • plodding

Too self important, too absorbed in itself, the book starts out slow-- and then slows down, and instead of getting dirty and digging into the problem seems to be more interested in talking it into submission. Okay, "today" we know of the common amounts of DNA among various species, and how great the match between man and chimpanzee actually is, and maybe that was not as commonly accepted twenty years ago, but this wasn't the greatest telling of the story of man imploding, of what that means.
