    For serious study of the bard

    If you're looking for pure entertainment, this isn't your version. No fabulous costumes and sets, no big scale production, no bells and whistles. This performance takes place on a dark bare stage. The focus is on the writing and the acting. If you are looking to see what great acting is, or you are studying the play for its merits as a script, this is perfect.

    If you only see one "Macbeth" this should be it.

    I bought this because I had heard about this production and wanted to see it. It is excellent, though I wish the picture was not grainy. But I will take what I can get. The outstanding performance was Judi Dench's Lady, of course. It is undoubtedly the best I have ever seen.

    Great help for reading the play

    Great help with reading the play. 99% acurate with the play. If you have difficulty with reading Shakespeare the movie is a a helpful tool. Theirs movie has great acting and is formed as a play.

    MacBeth is my favorite Shakespeare Play

    I am in the process of eliminating VHS tapes, and ordering DVD's of the ones I want to keep. The price and date received were good - However, have not watched it yet.

    Macbeth (DVD, 2004)

    I was away for a long period of time and I have just returned home.I just opened the dvd and tried to play it to no avail. When finally tooked it in my hands I saw that it came with a craked, therefore damaged. I am very dissapointed and frustrated.
