Product Information

In John Badham's NICK OF TIME, Johnny Depp stars as Gene Watson, a mild-mannered, widowed accountant, and the father of six-year-old Lynn (Courtney Chase). While in Los Angeles's Union train station, they are abducted by a mysterious couple posing as police officers, Mr. Smith (Christopher Walken) and Ms. Jones (Roma Maffia). They give Gene a loaded gun and these orders: assassinate the "flaming liberal" governor of California (Marsha Mason) within the next 90 minutes, or they will kill his beloved daughter. Gene reluctantly agrees, and he is taken to the Bonaventure Hotel where the governor is making an appearance. Tension mounts as the clock ticks and Gene must outwit his conniving kidnappers. Shot in real time, the action of the movie is documented in the actual 90 minute running time of the movie. As Gene faces his gruesome task, minutes slip away, creating a palpable tension and a breathtaking reminder of every agonizing second. Christopher Walken is at his devilish best, wickedly tormenting the innocent hero. Reminiscent of Hitchcockian dilemmas, Gene is an ordinary man trapped in an extraordinary situation, forced to act before it is too late.

    Hi I had Nick of time and a ton more vhs I collected over the years. The movies were stolden. No I have been looking for the movies 1 at a time as I have. MS and live on disability. The old vhs are fun to watch. I saw all these movies years ago. Thanks to eBay I have been able find a lot of these old movies. I just got Clifhanger today. There are so many good movies out there.

    Not Quite Hitchcockian

    I purchasd this movie for two reasons:1 - It was heralded as "Hitchcockian" and 2 - Johnny Depp. For the first reason, I was ultimately dissapointed. Although the film had a common theme that Hitchcock used, Ordinary Man drawn into Extraordinary Circumstances, it lacked the true visual genius of the master. Several attempts were made but few succeeded such as the clock sequence. However, if your a Johnny Depp fan, this film will not dissapoint you. His performance as usual is superb. Christopher Walken also delivers a chilling performance as the "bad guy".

    Gotta love real time drama

    This 1995 Johnny Depp / Christopher Walken classic dramatizes a second by second drama for each second of the movie. Suspense is slightly mixed with humor as the clock keeps ticking. Thus creating the cause of the fandom.
