About this product

Product Information

Deep within the kingdom of Kal Torin lies Castle Shadowgate, a place where the evil Warlock Lord rests in eternal slumber. Legend tells of a great battle in which the Warlock Lord was defeated by a cunning warrior named Jair, who later became king of Kal Torin. To ensure the dark one remained in the castle, the wizard Lakmir volunteered to stand guard within its secured walls.

One hundred years have passed since the noble Jair and wise Lakmir walked the land, and the once enchanting castle lies in ruins. Thieves continuously explore the depths of its chambers, while others raid the caravans roaming nearby. It was during one of these raids that a young halfling named Del Cottonwood was captured and thrown into a cold, dark dungeon within the ancient castle. Faced with the prospect of death, Del must somehow find a way out...

Shadowgate 64: Trials of the Four Towers is the sequel to Shadowgate, a graphic adventure released ten years earlier on the 8-bit NES. Now the castle is in 3D and you must solve puzzles and explore your surroundings from a full-screen, first-person perspective. Meet characters in your attempt to break free from the mysterious castle, and gather items to help you progress through its foreboding four towers and Chamber of Holding. As you learn more about the history of the building, you may encounter Lakmir's ghost or one of the Warlock Lord's evil minions.

You begin the game locked in a cell without any weapons or items. From this point on, you must use your wits and keen eye for detail to find a way out. Movement is performed using the controller's yellow buttons, while looking around is accomplished via analog stick. Players can talk with characters they meet, examine items, crouch, consult a map, read books, and check their inventory to activate certain items. A Controller Pak with 30 free pages is required to save each game.

    Under-rated Classic

This is a must have for anyone who's into either puzzle games or classic point and click games. It's kind of a combination of the two types of styles and the puzzles are so well written. This game definitely shows its age though so I'd only recommend it to people who are die hard fans of those two genres of games.

  • Nostalgia Achieved

I've been looking for this game for a while; I never got to finish playing it when I was much younger. It works perfectly, and the fact it came with its original box was such a bonus. Can't wait to finally finish this game.

  • You won't be disappointed!

this is an exciting game that makes you think. As fun today as first time I played it over 10 years ago. An adventure any new player would enjoy. Even with all the new and better technology there are some older games that still hold weight today...this is one of those games-enjoy!

  • Shadow Gate

I always wondered why they never continued this series. I found it a lot of fun. It makes you use your brain. The graphics weren't the greatest but the adventure was awesome. Some parts of it took me a minute to figure out, which is what makes the game so challenging.... If you like a Challenge try this on for size. If ya get stuck, write me, I'll try to help you... :P Celia
