Based on award-winning director Peter Jackson's big-budget remake of the landmark 1933 Cooper and Schoedsack film, this video game version of King Kong is designed to convey the action and excitement the massive monster inspires, as well as the poignancy and emotion of the melancholy "beauty and the beast" storyline. Gameplay comes in two styles: In control of the ambitious hero Jack Driscoll, players fight for their own survival from a first-person perspective, while in the empowering role of the mighty Kong himself, players have a third-person perspective that allows them to take in their surroundings, and take better control the massive ape in battle. Developed in conjunction with Jackson and his production company, the game also features scenes and locations not seen in the film.

    fun but hard

    I bought it because it was inexpensive even though I didn't know anything about it. My 10 year old son says this game is fun but hard to get past the first level. He also says it is easier to play this game on the XBOX than on the DS. Aparently the "giant crab at the end of level one is WAY TOO HARD!" Let me note though, he has only had this game for two days. So far, he's been using spears and guns to shoot enemies (animals, not humans). You view the game from the hero's eyes, moving with the joystick button and attacking with the R or L buttons. When I tried this game, I could not figure out how to get out of the cave or wherever I was and was stuck walking around in circles for several minutes. Needless to say, I didn't think too much of the game myself, but who cares? My son seems to ...

    Don't Buy this Game. : ( Unless you Like wasting money

    This game sucked. I tried beating the first level, but I kept on dying. There is no saving only between levels so when you die it's over. The first level was pretty boring, the graphics sucked and this game was never meant be played on the DS. The controls are akward but it's easy to get use to them. I just got mad because I kept dying on the boss for the first level. I beat it but I ran out of ammo after the boss and then some stupid monster went after the chick and I didn't have anything to shoot at the animal. She died and I lost the level. :( So once again don't buy this game.

    Game lover

    This game makes you feel as if your watching the movie all over again... but this time your actually a part of it. If you like King Kong then you'll love this game .. Great graphics and fun to play!!! You'll never get tired of playing this game compared to other one person player games. Highly recommended!!!!

    A few differences...

    I liked it , great graphics for a DS version. The reason I bought it was because I have a version for Xbox and GameCube so i wanted to see if there was any difference for the DS version. There were a few , I believe it was a bit easier than the versions for Xbox and GameCube. I enjoyed it and was very satisfied with the game.
