About this product

Product Information

Konami's original dancing game series steps on to Wii Walt Disney style, in a Dance Dance Revolution game featuring danceable mixes of 40 well-known Disney songs, such as "It's A Small World," "A Spoonful of Sugar," and "Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah." The game is played using special floor mat controllers with arrow buttons that players step on in time to the music. As a song plays, arrow symbols move up the screen, and the goal of the game is to step on the corresponding floor mat buttons -- left, right, up, or down -- in time with the scrolling symbols. In the Wii edition of Dance Dance Revolution, dancers also use their hands, holding the motion-sensitive Wii Remote and Nunchuk controllers and keeping the beat.

Dancers play as themselves, taking the role of their own Mii in the game, and they are joined by Disney favorites such as Mickey, Donald, Goofy, Minnie, and Daisy. The player's Mii's appearance can be customized from a collection of as many as 60 unlockable Disney-themed outfits and accessories, and players can change the looks of ten in-game Disney characters as well. Available modes of play include a single-player campaign with increasingly difficult dancing challenges, a multiplayer mode for up to four, and a workout function that estimates the number of calories the player burns while dancing. The initial retail release of Dance Dance Revolution: Disney Grooves for Wii includes two Dance Dance Revolution floor mats for use with the console.

    Lots of fun!

It's for an older console, so expectations must be adjusted, and proper hardware must be used to ensure compatibility with newer TVs, etc. That being said, the games are a lot of fun. The Disney version is more whimsical and less difficult, and HP2 has a few more customization options. It's easy to forget you're getting a workout in.

  • Fun for all ages.

I had waited long for a dance (pad) game suitable for younger children and was THRILLED when I saw this product. I bought it for my 5 and 7 year old boys who love Wii and are very active. The game was everything I had hoped, just the manuvering through the menues was somewhat confusing and frustrating. My 5 year old has a little hard time reaching all the sides of the pad quickly because he has short legs. They love the fact that you can chose to be Disney charachters or import your Mii, also you can dress them up in Disney costumes. The music and staging is "peppy" and entertaining. I tried it myself a while and liked it. We have had it a month and still haven't figured out the hand remote part of the game. It seems that the Wii does not register the hand-movments accurately, so you miss ...

  • Fun and good exercise

it's great for getting exercise while having a good time. It was really hard to figure out how to maneuver around the screens at first. Reading the manual only helped if you had played with the program first. It was almost too hard to figure out, and I was thinking I had wasted my money. Also, the dancing is a lot harder than you think it would be. But after using the program for a while, I have gotten accustomed to it and really enjoy it, getting over an hour of exercise at a time. It's great that the dances aren't easy, otherwise you would get through all of them in a short time and have no use for the program anymore. The challenging nature of the program is what gets you to keep coming back for more.

  • Fun for everyone, great exercise - improvement of a few features helpful

Great game - fabulous way to get the heart pumping. I wish it saved your progress, time, calories, anything in the exercise mode. I don't know why you have a login. The kids love it. My four-year-old loves to play with me. It is nice that I can set her on the beginner mode while I play on a more advanced setting. Fun for everyone in the family.

  • Fun but had some issues

Lots of fun. Would have liked the ability to dance as all the characters and have more control over who you are dancing with. Hand controllers are not as receptive as I would like (Compared to WII fit games). 'Earning' the costumes is not going well with my 4 yo. He wants to dance as Goofy and that has not been unlocked as to this point. Also I had such an issue plugging and playing the mats I thought I had a lemon mat. Turned out not to be the case but setup did not go smoothly.
