What the heck?
Fairytale characters brought together in what could have been a magical funny comedy/muscial. I thought the ending was depressing. Anyone who committed the slightest sin got killed unless they were male. All the actors did a good job but the script stunk.

Good for kids, & adults who like fairy tales.
If you enjoy musical fairy tales like THE WIZARD OF OZ, you'll enjoy INTO THE WOODS. Some of the lyrics hint at adult interpretation, but what you actually see is strictly for kids. Even the baker's wife gets pregnant by magic, no sex involved. If it had ended two-thirds of the way through, it would be a feel-good movie; however, in the last third, lots of people die offscreen. Because we find out through song lyrics, kids may not even realize they're dead. My two-year-old granddaughter watches this film over and over, unaware that the ending is a downer. It's meant to be; the message is that there's no such thing as living happily ever after. I can't argue the accuracy of this; after all, nobody lives forever. If you apply the morality of INTO THE WOODS to other Disney movies, anyone who seeks to change his or her lot in life --- Ariel, Belle, Aladdin, Mulan, Hercules --- deserves to be punished.

A great movie , wonderful cast and fun, fun story line. Diski plays beautiful not a skip. Plot is fun and cast is the best of the best. I laugh at the parts some play "the Prince" who says he is handsome but not bright. No one told him to be bright , I must go the beanstalk is breaking out of the ground, fun fun fun.

Adults enjoy the woods
A wonderful movie , I was lucky enough to have seen the play and it brought back a lot of pleasant memories. Catchy songs , great characters and wonderful scenery , the fairy tales by Grimm is a bit of a play on words,... parables for life in the guise of an entertaining story. If you don't like this movie , there is no hope for you at all .Well , maybe , but I'm not holding my breath. Musicals get a bad rap often , but this is a great movie, suitable for anyone with any musical interest...or none.A wonderful movie , I was lucky enough to have seen the play and it brought back a lot of pleasant memories.
