This Sabian Paragon Ride Cymbal is a solid 22 inch cymbal that can sonically shine in a performance. Designed for high powered drummers who hit hard, it can provide a solid, broad response, no matter the volume. This cymbal features a bow with a distinct, cutting attack. It gives barely any build up of tone and therefore can cut down on associated ringing for a clearer crash. The bell is equally distinct, with a loud, powerful tone.The Paragon line of Sabian cymbals was designed with the input of Neil Peart in the Vault. All the cymbals in the line feature Sabian handmade workmanship. This includes coarse bottom and pinpoint top lathing, hand hammered cups, and AA hammered bows. Every one features a creative style, bright tone, and mid to high pitch. This gives it a similarity to the previous Sabian AAX series of cymbals. The Paragon series offers a more creative tone, rather than a modern, vintage, or focused one. This can make it a good choice for those who want to create a distinctive and unusual sound.This solid 22” Sabian Paragon Ride can provide an extra heavy weight of over 8 pounds. That's because it's made of sturdy B20 bronze metal, which can give it a crash that cuts through other noise. This can give it a clear cutting stick definition and a robust tone that’s blended and balanced. The weight can also help keep the cymbals in place when playing. It is still, however, light enough to pack into a gear bag and carry with your other percussion accessories.The Sabian 22 can be as well suited to the highest climax in an orchestral suite. Yet it can also be suitable for the rock band that wants something powerful to compete with a dense sound. That's because it produces a different response depending on where and how you strike it. A blend of two lathing styles makes for a balanced tone in these ride cymbals. AA type at the bottom and AAX type at the top create concentric circles engineered to provide varying sound. The traditional AA type on the bottom of the cymbal provides a wide groove. This lends a rich and full bodied tone. The Pinpoint type on the top of the cymbal provides a narrow groove. This makes for a quick, vibrant top response.The hand hammered bells are suitable for producing a characteristically full crash. Seller sent the wrong cymbal and it was used. Listing was advertised as "unopened box brand new Heavy 18. I was sent a used Medium 18. Not quick to respond to messages most of the time, but did finally issue a refund after I sent the cymbal back. Will not purchase from again.
