  • A must read for anyone interested in music and anthropology

This book tells the story of the role drumming and rhythm in the story of mankind. I was fascinated to learn how important drumming is in world culture, and how close to extinction drumming became in Western culture. Mickey Hart has done a heroic deed in bringing this story to the attention of the academic community, and to us, the readers. The book is well-researched and well-written. Anyone interested in anthropology or music should read this book.

  • until the next time...

i've purchased this book at least a half dozen times...always for alot more money than i paid this time around...and i always seem to read it and then give it away! it's a wonderful book; full of spirituality, no-nonsense history and a remarkable slice of autobiography. mickey hart remains one of the 3 living people i'd most like to share a beer with. it is one of the very best books i own...and it will remain so, until i find the next person who deserves it more than me!

  • Drumming At The Edge Of Magic

This book is incredibly well-researched, compellingly written and nearly impossible to put down. Reading it is time well spent.
