    There are not many options available today for long term archiving of sensitive data. If you don't want to trust it to a third party, you could save it to a flash drive, a hard drive, a recordable CD/DVD/BluRay, or to magnetic tape. The problem is that these degrade with time in the matter of a few years. The magneto-optical media was developed in the 1980s to solve the long term archiving problem. It was designed to guarantee the media life of 50 years or more. It was perfected over several generations, and this 9.1 GB drive is the pinnacle of that effort by Sony, the leader in the technology.
