About this product

Product Information

"Lost Planet 2" for PS3 is set 10 years after the tumultuous events from the original game of the series. This installment finds the world that was formerly frozen transformed into arid deserts and tropical jungles. The Akrid, gigantic, insect-like creatures, have also adapted to the changes. Gaming action is seen through a third-person perspective, as you engage the Akrid while on foot, or from an expansive collection of Vital Suits. During gameplay, you are able to select from an assortment of customizable weapons, such as sniper rifles, laser guns, rocket launchers, or machine guns. You can engage in single-player battle spanning six episodes, or join a co-op group of four players that team up to fight against the swarming Akrid. Lost Planet 2 also allows you to play in competitive multiplayer modes, with a maximum of 16 players. This is a third-person shooter game developed and published by Capcom as a sequel to "Lost Planet: Extreme Condition." It takes place 10 years after the first game’s events, and is set on the same fictional planet, E.D.N. This video game was developed for a number of platforms: PlayStation 3, Microsoft Windows, and Xbox 360. It is reminiscent of other video games in this genre, like "Call of Duty," "Resident Evil," and "Monster Hunter." Many gameplay features from the original game are present, such as extreme terrain, the ability to pilot mechanical armor suits, and taking part in major boss battles. Unlike the previous game, "Lost Planet 2" won’t constantly drain thermal energy from players because it takes place in a much warmer climate. Energy can only be massively drained when players use weapons that require energy, or when they pilot a Vital Suit unit. Thermal energy is still constantly, but slowly, drained during regular play, unless a specific ability is equipped. Characters may have their energy replenished by other team members, who can give them some of their energy to keep players alive. This game continues with a feature from the original in that it rewards players with experience points. Players can earn more points for completing extra objectives or playing in a unique manner. The storyline of "Lost Planet 2" for PS3 constantly shifts back and forth between different scenarios. The plot starts out with mercenaries battling against jungle pirates and eventually being set upon by a Category G Akrid. After destroying the creature, they are rescued by a friendly squadron in a helicopter. The story shifts over to Waysiders, otherwise known as snow pirates, who are now living in the desert. During gameplay, players have to fight against not only the gigantic Akrid, but also a wide assortment of motley characters. Several more scenarios take place with intense battle action and enemy engagement. Unlike the previous installment in this series, "Lost Planet 2" allows you to create and customize your own characters, and edit and modify weapons and color palettes.

    Great Trilogy

Really fun if you like the genre. Amazing alternate world they created for these games. Good replay value and a welcome piece to my library.

  • Lost Planet 2 is a fantastic co-op shooter experience,

Yet it suffers somewhat if played in single player mode. The follow-up to 2007's Lost Planet: Extreme Conditions is a different beast to its predecessor. The plight of Wayne, snow pirate protagonist of the first game, is largely forgotten. The sequel begins ten years later, still set on E.D.N. 3, but it's a very different climate. Vast expanses of snow have melted to make way for lush jungles, scorching deserts and grungy, run down facilities. Your T-Eng meter, in the first game essentially a constantly-depleting shield, now exists to power up rather than power down. The entire planet centres around T-Eng. Wars are fought over it, machines are powered by it, and you'll soon learn to stockpile it for a variety of purposes, such as repairing VSs, refilling your health bar or even opening ...

  • AMAZING!!!

If your looking to be sized up by huge monsters and use some i-tech gear then this is your game. The boss battles i'd have to say are so memorable that a little hick up or two doesn't seem to bother. Playing this game also puts you in the seat of a robot which i'd say has to be a way better experience than any mecha game. Totally worth the buy, don't take game reviews like IGN to serious the game itself is diffently a 9.0
