About this product

Product Information

A much-planned two-family vacation to Rio begins with disaster as one husband, Victor (Joseph Bologna), deals with divorce papers while Matthew's (Michael Caine) wife decides to vacation alone somewhere else instead, leaving the two men on vacation with only their charming and adventurous teenage daughters. Confronted by so much bare young skin, confused about the state of his marriage, and swept up in the moment, Matthew lets Victor's daughter, Jennifer (Michelle Johnson), seduce him on the beach. But Jennifer's constant declarations of love and lust make keeping the affair from Victor difficult and twists Matthew into guilty knots. The surprise appearance of Matthew's wife (Valerie Harper, magnificent in a rage) reveals another hidden affair and unravels the romantic web crisscrossing between the families.

    a fun and entertaining movie

I thought this was a very light hearted and funny movie. It delves into mid life crisis, on both parents, and has some surprising twist. I'd recommend. Tony

  • A Good Time With A Great View!

And I'm not just referring to the nudity [beaches and lead character]... There is the to-die-for tropical scenery, the way you imagine Rio to look. I would give my eye teeth to stay at a villa as portrayed in the film! But seriously, like Neil Simon's "Murder By Death," this is, in my opinion, an enjoyable movie that I can watch repeatedly when nothing else in my video library seems to grab me. It may not be great, but it's that good. I saw this movie when it originally came out and liked it then. I recently spotted and rented it, and ended up buying the DVD. The humor is well done and often subtle, so pay attention. Michael Cain is great in this role, better than many other roles I have seen him in. The rest of the cast feels just right. There is fleeting ...

  • Blame it On Rio

This is a classic mid '80's skin flick. In much the same genre of film making as Alphie, with the main character commentary, Michael Caine is a mid life challenged man with a wife and daughter. The wife decides to take a separate vacation, which leaves Michael Caine and his daughter (played by Demi Moore) to join Michael's best friend in a joint family vacation in of all places - RIO. Of course Michael's friend is going through his own mid life crisis and has a daughter Demi's age... let's just say it all gets very interesting from there. Rio, known for it's nude beaches, layed back lifestyle and Carnival is the breathtakingly gorgeous backdrop for this playfully sinful parody. The views of Rio are great.

  • Blame it on Rio (DVD, 2001)

This is one of those funny, sexy, situational comedy types of movies that Hollywood used to make back when people still knew how to laugh. Times were different; we only had the Soviets to worry about. Gasoline was a buck a gallon, movies were $3, and a family of four could eat at McDonalds for less than $20. I bought this movie for $2 out of a close out box. It is very funny! Michael Caine (Matthew) and his wife and daughter (Valerie Harper, Demi Moore) are going on a long planned trip to Rio with their best friend Victor (Joseph Bologna) and Victor's daughter Jennifer (Michelle Johnson). Both daughters are sixteen, boy crazy, and adventurous. Victor is somewhat preoccupied going through a nasty divorce. At the last minute, Matthew's wife (Harper) drops a bombshell on him, that ...

  • Forgive me, but I liked it. It's cute. Am I a pig, now?

Forgive me, but I liked it. It's cute. Am I a pig, now? OK, I saw it when I was in high school, but I remember loving it. Caine rarely-if-ever doesn't entertain, and he is GREAT in this role. Moore and Johnson are cute and innocent. Neither character mean any harm, and the movie stays innocent - I still recommend it. There are certainly movies that handle the topic (of rebelling teens with crushes on someone their senior) in much less tasteful manners. I'm a father of young girls, perhaps I won't feel the same way about this movie as they become teens. "To the innocent, all things are innocent" I recommend it; it's adorable! thepokedad
